Taco

Taco also came to Elite from CYB—yes, the theme continues! He arrived at the farm in May 2023 as what many would call a “shell of a horse.” He wouldn’t accept treats, shied away from affection, and was difficult to catch. His walls were high, and it was clear he had learned to protect himself.

Over time, Taco began to soften. It took nearly four months before he accepted his first treat, and almost eight months before he started to enjoy—and eventually seek out—attention from his humans. Watching him learn to trust again became one of the most rewarding parts of his journey.

Taco was an intriguing horse to understand. He was trained and responsive to cues, but his lack of confidence often showed up as bucks in the arena. Brittney gave him what he needed most: time, space, patience, and permission to make mistakes. With gentle, consistent guidance, Taco began to come into his own. He discovered he loved trail rides and even more so—jumping.

Though he had his quirks, Taco became a beloved mount for many riders and was steadily working his way into the school program.

Taco was a 15-year-old grade gelding and passed in the fall of 2024. His progress, personality, and quiet bravery left a meaningful mark on the farm and the people who cared for him.

  • Taco also had a brand, an M on his right shoulder!
