Maverick—better known as Mav—is Brittney’s personal horse, and another special arrival from Count Your Blessings Farm. Bred for bucking, his past is somewhat of a mystery; without any brands, it’s unclear whether he ever made it into the rodeo world or went to auction before he got the chance. What was clear, however, was his sensitivity. Mav is highly reactive, and his default response to pressure or fear has always been to bolt as fast as he can.

When he first arrived, he wore a halter but was nearly impossible to catch if he was turned out with other horses. Building trust with him required patience, softness, and time—something Brittney committed to wholeheartedly. Slowly, their bond began to form. Today, Mav comes running when called, is easy to halter and lead, and has even comfortably accepted the saddle.

His progress is a testament to the power of gentle, consistent horsemanship.

Maverick is a 15.3-hand, draft cross gelding born in 2016 (we think) with a bright future and a deepening connection to his person.
